Web Search API

Search the web and return ranked links, titles, and snippets for your application or agent.

Web Search finds public web pages from a text query. POST /v1/search returns a ranked list of links, titles, and snippets, with optional language, region, and domain filters.

Web Search is currently available through the COM site and the Hong Kong API at https://api.lexmount.com/v1/search. Obtain credentials from the COM API key settings; the API key and project ID must belong to the same project.

Try a search

Open the Web Search Playground, sign in, and enter a query. Results appear below the search box with clickable titles, URLs, snippets, and publication dates when available. Expand Search settings to adjust the result limit, time budget, language, region, or domains.

You can copy the full JSON response or expand the request and cURL example below the results to integrate the same query in your application.

Pricing and monthly allowance

Every COM account includes 1,000 free requests per month, shared across its projects and API keys on all Browser tiers. Each successful search counts once, including partial or empty results; it does not consume Web Fetch allowance. The monthly window follows the account's allowance start date, and unused requests do not carry over.

The listed rate is US$0.75 per 1,000 requests. Additional requests are not available for purchase yet, including through Stripe, and there is no automatic overage charge. Exhaustion returns HTTP 429 with websearch_quota_exhausted; wait for the next monthly window. See pricing for accounting details.

Integrate the API

  • Quick Start: credentials, a first cURL request, and reading results.
  • Search API: request fields, domain filtering, response fields, and error handling.

Search, extract, or interact

Use Web Search to find pages from a query. Its snippets are search summaries, not full page content. To retrieve a result's page content, pass its URL to Web Fetch. To sign in, click, or interact with a page, use Cloud Browser.

Language and region are search preferences. They do not change API access restrictions. Domain filters restrict the returned links; the result count can be lower than the requested limit.

Common Errors

Handle authentication, quota, input, fetch, snapshot, and gateway failures.

Quick Start

Make your first web search request and read the results.
